Then she was rescued by a friend who gave her a piece of black canvas paper and a silver pen to convey her ideas.
This was to become Severina’s best language and a medium of self-expression that she could utterly communicate with and trust. The artist’s unique technique was born.
Severina's involvement with her paintings culminates in the creation of a new world, her own ‘garden’ in her own words, with its beauty, harmony, contrasts and tribulations, one that she relates to and gives her a sense of belonging.
This relationship is so intense that in her ‘Garden’ she can almost feel ’the seasons, the wind, water, sun and the smell of things…’and the ultimate purpose is to give and share this world with others.
The harmonious use of colour is balanced with organic shapes of flowers and landscapes.
Within the subject matter there is very often a duality of opponents, a word of contrasts and beauty.
The exasperation of lines emphasizes the basic need for capturing life and its subtlety.
